Some tips for Flea Market Buyers.
It’s a great idea to wear comfortable shoes and casual clothing. Outdoor flea markets can be dusty.
If you are looking seriously for a specific item, arrive early before your find is snatched up by someone else. Bring cash as most vendors do not accept credit cards. A canvas bag or small shopping cart to carry your purchases will come in handy as you continue to walk around and browse the selections of merchandise.
Many flea markets offer affordable food at snack bars. If you don’t want to eat at the market, you can eat beforehand, bring snacks with you, and stay hydrated.
The fun of haggling
Vendors almost always expect you to haggle on price so their first price may not be their final price. The exception might be vendors who are selling cds or Dvds or other items for a dollar apiece. Generally, that’s what you’ll pay unless you buy in quantity. It never hurts to ask, “Will you take less?”
A vendor’s willingness to negotiate depends on a variety of factors including demand, how much the vendor paid for the item, and how badly the vendor wants to get rid of the item. Whenever you make an offer, it’s always important to be polite.
